CONTACT ATTORNEY CHARLES KENVILLE
Attorney Charles Kenville has personally represented hundreds of people in Central Iowa who have faced charges ranging from shoplifting and drunk driving to federal drug conspiracies and murder in the first degree. Mr. Kenville is originally from Fargo, North Dakota. He received his undergraduate degree in Sociology from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota and his law degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  While a student at Drake University Law School he participated in the Advanced Criminal Defense Clinic, the Polk County Prosecuting Internship, and was a member of the ATLA Competition Mock Trial Team. After receiving his law license Mr. Kenville was employed as an Assistant Polk County Attorney in the drug and gang unit from 1999 to 2004. In this role Mr. Kenville prosecuted thousands of cases and gained invaluable experience in every level of the criminal justice system from the initial police investigation to complex jury trials.  In 2004 Mr. Kenville took his expertise in criminal law into private practice and dedicated himself to providing the highest quality representation to the citizens of Central Iowa.

He is currently admitted to practice in the State of Iowa, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. He is a member of the Iowa Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Blackstone Inn of Court. Mr. Kenville believes all criminal defendants should be treated with dignity and respect. He will thoroughly review your case with you and vigorously pursue all available defenses. His hard work and attention to detail are the foundation for getting each individual client the best possible result.

If you have already been convicted and want to pursue an Appeal or Post Conviction Relief proceeding, Mr. Kenville can help. He will discuss your case with you and meticulously research any grounds available to appeal your conviction. He can also discuss with you the possibility of a separate Post Conviction Relief  proceeding that could grant you a new trial.
Mr. Kenville also handles Civil Asset Forfeiture cases.  If the police have taken your personal belongings or seized cash or bank accounts, Mr. Kenville can assist you in getting your property returned. When the police take your property you must pursue them in a civil court proceeding separate from any criminal charges they may have filed against you. Mr. Kenville has dealt with dozens of forfeiture cases and can assist you in the complex and often confusing procedures required to get your property back.
